And now, your emcee-in-chief

If he doesn’t outdraw Jimmy Kimmel, he said he shouldn’t be President

And now, your emcee-in-chief

He can’t help himself, he just can’t.

I ask supporters of President Donald J. Trump, did you elect him to emcee the Kennedy Center honors, which he fake-mistaked calling it Trump Kennedy honors a few times?

Did you vote for him to become the board chairman of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts — being elected by a new board of directors he himself appointed?

And you like to talk about rigged elections?

Instead of watching from an opera box as all previous Presidents have done, Trump hosted the event Sunday and it will be broadcast on CBS on Dec. 23.

“Trump appeared on stage three times to open and close the show, and after intermission,” AP reported. “He also talked up each artist in prerecorded videos that played before their tributes. Trump was both gracious and critical in the comments he delivered from the stage, lavishing the honorees with effusive praise but at times showing a mean streak,” said AP.

Trump predicted it would get the biggest ratings ever.

He also said if he didn’t outdraw Jimmy Kimmel, he shouldn’t be President. He can’t help himself. He has fewer filters than Lucky Strike.

In October, Kimmel’s audience was about 2.3 million, which should not be too hard to beat because in recent years, CBS has achieved an audience between 3-5.5 million for the special telecast. Trump no doubt knows those numbers.

And if Nielsen  gets the ratings “wrong,” Trump might threaten to revoke their citizenship.

I think Trump’s prediction has turned it from a show into a national poll.

People who normally watch it, if they don’t like Trump, won’t watch it.

People who normally wouldn’t watch it on a bet, if they like Trump, will tune it in.

Just my opinion, of course.

I won’t watch it, but it’s never been on my “must see” list.

I have no quarrel with the people he nominated, that is his right, and not all of them are slobbering devotees. They are actors Sylvester Stallone and Michael Crawford, R&B singer Gloria Gaynor, country and western star George Strait, and the glam rock band Kiss. I am amazed Trump overlooked Kid Rock.

Maybe next year.
