“Defund the police” has turned into “Defy the police”

The self-righteous people who are attacking ICE agents are fundamentally equivalent to the Neanderthals who infamously tried to take over Congress on January 6, which even Trumpster Majorie Taylor Greene called a fedsurrection.

The far Left is as wrong now as the far Right was then.

That may be hard for each to accept, but it is true.

Each was interfering with a normal democratic process, putting their political motives above the law.

That is a recipe for anarchy now, and possibly even civil war.

I will stipulate here that Immigration and Customs Enforcement itself must obey the law, specifically that every person is entitled by law to a hearing before deportation. If ICE does not provide due process, it is in the wrong, and I have said that before, more than once.

Rough handling of suspects, or housing them inhumanely, are also against the law.

I say that to the Right without flinching. We can’t have a sincere conversation until you agree that the law is the bedrock of our civilization and law enforcement must always color inside the lines.

To the Left I say, we can’t have a decent meeting of the minds until you agree that illegal immigration is illegal.  It is a violation of federal law, passed by Congress and enforced by ICE.

I wrote about this angle as early as 2017, after an election in which American reaction to illegal immigration helped put Donald J. Trump in the White House. Think about that, Dems.

Trump specifically turned his guns on Sanctuary Cities, such as Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

It is axiomatic that Sanctuary Cities (and states, and counties) all are Left and all are determined to interfere with the federal government — and not just Trump. They blocked President Barack Obama, too. (Not President Joe Biden, whose stupyfying actions showed he was aligned with the national suicide of Open Borders.)

Even if illegals are your neighbors, if they are here illegally, they are subject to removal, even if they have committed no additional crime. Illegal presence is enough. And if they are working, that’s an additional charge. And if they have a fake Social Security number, that’s yet another violation. 

What I find disheartening, and frightening, is that 68% of those calling themselves “strong liberal” find illegal immigration acceptable. That is huge.

 I am dismayed even by the 28% of all adults who find it acceptable, according to the same poll.

Are these the same people who squawk that no one is above the law? Except illegals? How would they feel about a different federal law being violated — such as the Fair Housing Act? 

Noncooperation with the feds is one thing. Wrong, but civil.

Now, ICE is facing violence, probably egged on by the insistence of the Left who resort to calling legitimate law enforcement “Gestapo,” “Nazis,” and “Secret police.”

This is a step beyond — and as moronic — as “Defund the police.” This is “Defy the police.”

So that instigates a suicidal asshat loser named Joshua Jahn to climb a rooftop across from a Dallas ICE facility to take out some agents. The irony is that before he ended his miserable life, he killed an illegal who was being detained, and seriously wounded two others. 

An ICE facility in Illinois was swamped with protestors who are anti ICE and carrying signs such as “Immigrants are welcome here.” (Notice they never use the word “illegal.”)

They reportedly slashed tires on federal vehicles and tried to block agents from bringing detainees into the facility. When the crowd surged, ICE fired tear gas and pepper balls.

This is spreading as more useful idiots elsewhere feel empowered to interfere with lawful enforcement activities.

On Saturday, Trump ordered troops to protect ICE facilities in Portland, Ore., from “domestic terrorists.” 

ICE protestors have deluded themselves into believing they are doing something noble. They are not. They are, in effect, demanding Open Borders.

If someone arrives here illegally, and cannot be deported, that is Open Borders, and that is an invitation for millions more to arrive. And unrestricted arrivals, Open Borders, is national suicide, because we can’t handle the numbers who would come, estimated by Gallup at 150 million.

Lifeboat America would be swamped. 

And that is what would happen if the  “no person is illegal” Open Border Loons get their way.
