It was worse than the polls had predicted

Blood-red Kansas elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate, which hasn’t happened since the earth cooled.

Well, the oft-dissed polls got it pretty much correct Tuesday night, with a massive rejection of the party headed by President Donald J. Trump, who campaigned his ass off (has anyone appreciated his?) to little avail. If anything, the polls underestimated the midterm blue wave.

Lots of good news for Democrats, aside from the gimmes, such as Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s cruise to re-election.

Some call it a wave, some call it a rout.

First and foremost, Democrats seized the House of Representatives, which means Hakim Jefferies is a lock to become the first Black Speaker.

Second, and more importantly, around 11:35 p.m. came the flash that the Democrats had also captured the U.S. Senate, when Democrat John Turik won a seat in ruby red Iowa!

Congress now will assume its rightful role as a balance to a power hungry President, something the Republican majority did not have the spine to do.

Personally, my favorite outcome was the election of Keisha Lance Bottoms as America’s first Black female governor. And in the Deep South.

I know her a little, remembering during the George Floyd riots, when CNN headquarters was under attack (hold your cheers, MAGA heads), as Atlanta mayor she called out the cops and sent word to the street criminals, not in my Atlanta, you don’t.

Some whack Dems want to defund the police. Not Gov.-elect Bottoms. You go, girl.

Georgia now has two Democratic U.S. senators and a Democratic governor. After decades of being a GOP petting zoo, Georgia is blue.

Wisconsin elected Black Democrat David Crowley as governor. Not surprising as Wisconsin is a pale blue state. Ohio selected a female Democrat, Amy Acton, as governor over creepy Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. Still in Ohio, Democrat Sherrod Brown ousted incumbent Republican Jon Husted, the guy with the ass Trump found so bootylicious.

Blood-red Kansas elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate, which hasn’t happened since the earth cooled. Democrat Adam Hamilton is a big-time preacher.

In South Carolina, a Democrat was sent to the U.S. for the first time in this millennium — and a woman to boot — Annie Andrews, who beat Lindsay Graham’s sister, hand-picked by Trump, whose winning streak of endorsements was smashed on the rocks.

In North Carolina, Democrat Roy Cooper flipped the seat by besting Republican Michael Whatley.

And Texas — yee hah! Earthquake. Stampede. The vegan closeted gay (according to Trump) beat the corrupt Ken Paxton to become a U.S. Senator, the first Dem to get there in almost 40 years. And while that was going on, three-term Republican governor Greg Abbott got turned out of office by a Mexican-American woman, Gina Hinojosa.

Well, bust my britches. That goofy Beato guy couldn’t do it but Talafreako could. Wonders never cease. And, yeah, the baby faced seminary student James Talarico eats barbecue. Now.

Who’s a vegan? Pass the BBQ sauce

I don’t know how the Republicans will attempt to sugar coat it, but Tuesday night was an ass-kicking massive rejection of MAGAnomics, regressive tariffs, ICE out of control, affordability, fuel prices, corruption, and the list goes on.

Trump is so out of touch he squandered much of his last address to the nation extolling the beauty of the reflecting pool, which he still falsely insisted was the victim of vandalism, rather than shoddy work the installer had admitted to.

The reflecting pool was the last thing on voters’ minds.

Trump’s status as a lame duck has officially begun.

Showing rare foresight ahead of the election, Trump said he was ready to veto anything the Democrats want done. Tuesday night, however, he said in an interview he was willing to work with Democrats. (Fearing impeachment?)

He should work with Dems because Dems, the sane ones, can claim a mandate. (One insane one, Florida candidate for Senate, socialist Angie Nixon, failed to beat Republican incumbent Ashley Moody.)

Vetoing the Dems would be vetoing what a majority of Americans want. That would be stupid on his part.

If the Democrats pursue another impeachment, that would be stupid on their part. Most Americans don’t care about that any more than they care about the reflecting pool. I said most Americans, not rabid progressives.

Back to election results.

By my 2:30 a.m. deadline, the anti-Israel Abdul El-Sayed had a huge lead over Republican Mike Rogers, and was positioned to become the first Muslim to be seated in the U.S. Senate. In Maine, veteran Republican Senator Susan Collins conceded shortly after midnight. New England is now totally blue.

Back in Florida, Republican Byron Donalds bucked the blue tide to defeat Republican-turned-Democrat David Jolly, keeping Florida a very red state.

That was a tiny bit of good news for Republicans, who now have to sit down and figure out what went wrong.

The answer is two words, with the middle initial J.
