Sanctuary Cities just dared Trump to call the cavalry

If you have a law on the books that is not enforced, it encourages more people to break that law.

Chicago has it coming. So does Boston. And maybe Philadelphia down the road.

What?

An intrusion by ICE, and maybe the national guard.

They are poised to swoop in and enforce federal immigration law. They are not Gestapo, they are law enforcement.

By noon Tuesday, there were reports the Chicago incursion, code-named Operation Midway Blitz, had begun and “several people in heavily Hispanic communities had already been detained,” according to the Washington Post. Oh, the horror!

Protestors who don’t want the feds in their city don’t want the law enforced. It’s as simple as that. They think their resistance is something  noble, but it is not. They are undermining law and order, which is exactly what they accuse President Donald J. Trump of doing. They can’t see through their fog of moral self-righteousness.

They are utterly blind to who is in the right and who is in the wrong.

Snatched from the headlines, South Korea’s former vice foreign minister Choi Jong-gun said, “I’m really speechless and furious” about the arrest of hundreds of South Koreans who were working illegally at a Georgia auto plant. “We spend a lot of money in the United States and we get slapped in the face.”

No, Mr. Choi. You are blaming the victim. Your illegal South Korean countrymen have slapped America in the face doing “jobs Americans won’t do.” Kidding, of course. Americans will do that work, and, by the way, America’s trade deficit with South Korea is almost $60 billion, so don’t play the cash card.

Here in America, the social justice warriors have been doing this — obstructing justice — long before Trump. And I especially point at so-called Sanctuary Cities, such as Philadelphia, which shield even convicted foreign felons from ICE.

If I sound angry, it is because I am angry. I am angry about the massive law-breaking and the hypocritical endorsement of it.

I have written about this before, focusing on the bromide that no one is above the law. (The Left usually hurls that accusation against Trump, and sometimes they are right.)

If you are one of those people shouting to keep ICE out of your community, what are you really saying?

You are saying the law should not  be enforced on people you like.

You are saying some people are above the law.

You are saying that you don’t believe that everyone should play by the same rules.

In other words, you are unAmerican.

I can’t put it any more plainly than that.

It’s infuriating. I was about to say I can’t understand this outright rejection of law, but I do understand it.

The kind-hearted and soft-headed social justice warriors think they are doing something morally right.

They bleat that “no human is illegal on stolen land,” although they make no effort to remove themselves from "stolen land.” It’s just crap they spout. It is meaningless.

I don’t like the mass deportations, but they are entirely not only legal, but justified. The obstinacy of Sanctuary Cities gave Trump justification to call out the cavalry.

If you won’t enforce the law, he will. (Actually, cities don’t have to enforce the law, but they must not thwart federal enforcement.)

If you have a law on the books that is not enforced, it encourages more people to break that law.

And when others see that this law isn’t being enforced, it encourages the breaking of other laws. It invites chaos.

When drivers find that speed limits are not enforced, it encourages more speeders. If you are a driver, you know that.

If you don’t enforce laws against shoplifting it is axiomatic that you get more shoplifting. That’s why so much product in CVS is under lock and key.

Also axiomatic: If you don’t remove illegal aliens, you get more illegal aliens.

Greater Chicago has an estimated half-million. The growth curve now has slowed because our first line of defense, the border, has been largely sealed.

I know this will drive some of you insane, but slamming the gate shut is thanks to Trump.

And why did he have to do that?

Because that well-intentioned simpleton Joe Biden swung them open, assisted by “border czar” Kamala Harris.

Biden actually invited illegals to come here because, you know, America is the land of immigrants.

Loads of T-shirted illegals took Biden’s invitation to heart

He forgot to tell them to come here legally, until one day he opened his eyes and — holy shit! — there were thousands in long columns heading to El Norte.

By then it was too late.

Most polling said illegal immigration was #2 on voters’ minds, following the economy/inflation.

Democrats were in denial, and still are.

Democratic leaders, such as Cherelle Parker here, whimper about our cities being “welcoming.”

To law-breakers?

There are solutions to the problem, but that can’t happen until Democrats, and their media allies, admit that illegal immigration — a term they stuffed down the memory hole decades ago — is illegal.

Once they are honest about that, compromise is possible.

In an effort to resolve the illegal immigration issue, President Barack Obama came up with a plan in  2013, that I supported because it duplicated my plan of several years earlier. I am not suggesting he cribbed from me.

The Washington Post summary of his plan:

“First, continue to strengthen our borders. Second, crack down on companies that hire undocumented workers. Third, hold undocumented immigrants accountable before they can earn their citizenship; this means requiring undocumented workers to pay their taxes and a penalty, move to the back of the line, learn English, and pass background checks. Fourth, streamline the legal immigration system for families, workers, and employers.” (Italics added)

My feeling is there should be a statute of limitations on illegal entry, as there is with more serious crimes, even assault and rape.

If those crimes can be time-limited, so can this one, but I am not talking about amnesty.

This plan combines justice with mercy.

Democrats should support it, and wrench the issue out of Trump’s hands.
